Mr. Wrightās class from Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School visited the Orland Park Library to view the Black Lives Matter Exhibit! The exhibit features art and interviews that tell the stories of men, women and children and their experiences with social justice. Aisha Scott, District 152 alum, is the creator of the exhibit and is currently an educator in Illinois. The exhibit will eventually travel to South Africa.
Congratulations to Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School Assistant Principal Robert Rizzo! He earned the 2022 Illinois Administrator at the Illinois Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance State Convention!

As a part of the Positive Behavioral Interventions Support program at Holmes Elementary School, students earn Blue Jay Bucks for displaying positive behavior. Every other week they can spend their Blue Jay Bucks at the Blue Jay Cart, which includes raffle tickets. The following students (left to right) Gianluca Zacarias, Krista Hernandez, Melissa Cruz and Angel Rodriguez won the raffle for the month of November. Congratulations, students!
Congratulations to our very own teacher and Harvey 152 alum Ms. Paula Karll! She has received the Distinguished Author Guild Award for her children's book āThe Adventures of Ellie and Eve: Ellie Meets The New Baby.ā
āThe Adventures of Ellie and Eve: Ellie Meets The New Babyā supports children who are early learners, diverse learners and ESL learners. The book is available on Audible and as a text-to-speech ebook, an ebook, and in a Spanish version online. Additionally, teacher lesson plans are included to teach about family structure, diversity and inclusion.
Ms. Karll is a special education teacher at Bryant Elementary School. Weāre proud of her and her amazing accomplishments!
Thank you to all of the families who attended Holmes Elementary Family Reading Night! The night was complete with reading, games, crafts and connecting with other HES families!
Thank you to all of the families who attended the Winter Craft Night at Riley Early Childhood Center! Students and families read a story and then created a craft about the story. At the end of the night, each Riley student picked one of the featured books to take home.

Congratulations to the Angelou fourth and fifth grade basketball Lady Eagles! They are undefeated district champions going 5-0. Weāre so proud of the players and Coach Claude Davis!
Thanksgiving celebrations made learning festive at Maya Angelou Elementary! Students learned about the history of the Macyās Thanksgiving Day Parade by reading āBalloons over Broadwayā by Melissa Sweet. Students made their own balloons, floats and paraded through the school. What an exciting way to send off before Thanksgiving break!
