Superintendent Dr. Lawrence recently met with Harvey Police Department’s Chief Biddings. Our district goals include community engagement, collective impact, school safety, and partnership that build relationships and uplifts the community. We appreciate and are proud of our community partnerships!
As a reminder, tomorrow Wednesday, Feb. 14, is a School Improvement Day. Students will be released at 12:30 p.m.
Last week, Holmes Elementary School kindergarten students celebrated the 100th day of school! Students were encouraged to dress as if they were 100-years-old and bring something to school that they had 100 of at home. They worked on projects throughout the day and had a great time celebrating 100 days!
A total of 84 students at Holmes Elementary School earned Perfect Attendance for the month of December! They received a special treat of hot chocolate and marshmallows which was a perfect way to warm up on a chilly day!
Recently, Holmes Elementary School had a raffle for students that met their growth goals and tested at grade level on the iReady benchmark that they took before Winter Break. Students received a raffle ticket if they tested at grade level, or achieved 50% of their growth goal in ELA and Math (earning up to four raffle tickets). The first raffle ticket that was drawn for each grade level received a refurbished Chromebook (compliments of HSD 152), and the second and third place winners received gift cards!
This week is National School Counseling Week! We’re proud to acknowledge our school counselors who support our students and staff each and every day. Thank you for being advocates for our students’ success!
Today, Feb. 1, begins Black History Month! Throughout District 152, we are kicking off celebrations honoring the history of our Black community. We look forward to sharing exciting projects, events and presentations created by our students and staff this month.

Prior to winter break students took the winter iReady benchmark diagnostic to see how much they had learned this year. To help motivate our students, any student that tested at grade level, or were at least 50% of their to their growth goals in ELA and Math were entered into a raffle. The first raffle ticket that was drawn at each grade level won a refurbished Chromebook (complimentary of HSD 152), while second and third place winners won Target gift cards. Dr. Lawrence continues his tours visiting students and staff throughout our busy campuses! This week, he spent time at Holmes Elementary School and Bryant Elementary School.
Last night, Dr. Lawrence was welcomed to the district by staff, parents and community members during his official "Meet & Greet" at Maya Angelou School! Dr. Lawrence, joined by his wife Dr. Pandora Lawrence, spoke to the community about our strategic plan and how we’ll meet our goals.
Those in attendance shared their Harvey history and stories to give a glimpse into our community. Dr. Lawrence shared that he is ready to lead, and ready to move forward TOGETHER!
It’s Gala Season! District 152 Superintendent Dr. Reginald Lawrence, Harvey Board of Education members and staff joined other districts for the 2nd Annual UNCF Gala on Friday night. This event provides needed scholarships to high school students in our community.
We are so proud and honored to have an amazing partnership with our former Holmes School student, Dr. Shaniqua Jones. Dr. Jones works with our staff and families on areas of mental health to family goal setting. She is always welcomed back home!
