Ms. Sandra Contreras
District 152 Board Member
Former District 152 Student
“My name is Sandra Contreras. I am 24 years old, the eldest of 3 siblings and was born in Blue Island. My nationality is Mexican American. I was raised by my parents whom migrated from La Piedad, Michoacan in Paredones.
Growing up in Harvey as a kid was hanging out with close friends and attending Restoration Ministries an after school program. I was an athlete. I joined cheerleading, ran track, played soccer and ran cross country throughout Elementary and High School.
Throughout my school years I attended Riley Pre-School, Holmes, and Brooks Middle School and graduated from Thornton Township High School. When I graduated from Thornton Township High School I worked as an 101 aide with students for district 152, in which I ran for School Board Members 4 years later.
In addition to my educational background I attended South Suburban College where I majored in Early Childhood Education. A few of my favorite hobbies are drawing, traveling and horseback riding. One of my two favorite places I’ve traveled to would be La Piedad Michoacan and Times Square NY as it is vibrant and full of diversity. One of my favorite quotes I go by to continue following my goals is: “ All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.”- Walt Disney.”
